In the modern age of touch screens and swiping here and there, haptic touch and hand gestures.

Are you like me, crave the buttons a Blackberry gives but now the growing trend of cars with touchscreens is going into overdrive.

You can still get your fix with the Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR, manual 2.0 276bhp .

Look at that centre console.

Okay, so it’s an electronic handbrake, urgh, but still, it’s a button right, er, u rgh.

Still, it’s not a bad looking car even if it’s been around for sometime now.

Probably as bad as scrolling through ten pages on in fotainment systems in cars. Or worse.

I still prefer buttons. I hate having to touch the screen, then swipe left, right, up and down, then scroll through, urgh. After all of that, I’ve now got a filthy screen covered in finger prints and swipes.

It bugs me that some of the buttons are blank.

There are just the three, but they blend in well.

This is from an Astra EcoFlex Elite.

Heating controls are somewhat different. Still with a blank on the lower left and one up on the infotainment area.

I hate touch screens as much as you do probably, but I cant say I think the iDrive systems are a bad thing, the ones Ive encountered anyway (Im talking about the general ‘large wheel to control the infotainment system’ thing, not just the one from BMW). It cleans up the dash nicely and works fine, for me anyways.
